What's my Antique or Vintage Collectible Worth?Below are two methods for getting a ballpark value for an antique or vintage collectible item. Please read them completely before you attempt to use them as there are some important details. #1) Ebay completed listings (please note that using this option costs you absolutely nothing!). This will tell you the actual prices items have ended at for auctions over the last 30 days. To use this Ebay feature, click on the link below and it will tell you to sign in. After you have signed in, it will automatically take you to a page with a search box near the top that has a "completed listings" box that you should put a check in. Type in the name of your item and click the search button. Voila! You will find all of the items like yours and their closing prices on Ebay over the last 30 days. Look at the ones that are similar in type and condition to yours and that should give you a reasonable estimate of what your item would bring on Ebay. Remember to only look at the items that actually sold. Many items are listed that get no bids and they will show up in these results. The only catch is that you have to be a member of Ebay. If you are not, don't worry. Ebay will take you to a sign in page before you can look at your results. If you are not a member, all you have to do is to click the "register" button on the left side of the page, and they will get you registered and signed in. It is very easy and fast and costs you absolutely nothing. We have had very good luck searching for just about anything this way.
#2) Price Miner - Price Miner is a service that collects selling price data from eBay, GoAntiques, TIAS and other major sources. They have data from over 23 million prices realized for Art, Antiques and Collectibles combined with over 10 million images. If you can't find it with the Ebay search above, this is another option that has a lot more data. Their data is compiled from the three sources mentioned plus others over a longer period of time and so they have a lot more items you can compare to. The only downside of this one is that they have a small fee to subscribe to their service. Once you subscribe, you can use it over and over again. It can be well worth it if you try to find item values on a regular basis or if you have a high priced item that you can't find out much about elsewhere.
